NOARA: THE CONSPIRACY (UNDER DEVELOPMENT)

Noara: The Conspiracy is a hybrid game that combines the limitless strategic dimensions of chess with the dynamism of MOBA. Turn-based multi-player strategy game in 3D, Noara will have a 1v1 mode and a cooperative 2v2 mode. The game will be released on PC / Mac.

I'm working as a Game and Level Designer. I'm working on the map on which the player will play, balancing units and designing new features for the game.

FROM THE SHADOWS (GRADUATION PROJECT)

"From the Shadows" is a two-player cooperative game. The players each control a character: a light character, who makes the light platforms appear and the shadow platforms disappear, and a shadow character who evolves on these platforms.

On this 15 people project, I have a Lead Designer, Technical Designer and Level Designer role.

UNDER SHIP - GGJ 2020

Under Ship is a party game made in 48h for the Global Game Jam 2020. In this game, players must collaborate to try to save the boat they are in. But a lot of events will prevent them from staying alive...

I worked as a Developper for this project, made with Unity and C#. I worked mostly on the different events happening : hole in the boat, water rising, objects falling, enemy ships coming...

I also worked as a Game Design to balance the game.

HYBRIS

Hybris is an Expert boardgame for 1 to 5 players, made by Aurora Game Studio.

I worked on Hybris for 2 month as part of an internship as an Assistant Game Designer.

I worked on balancing the game and on a Solo mode, a 5th player mode, a Cooperative mode and I worked on developping an expansion.

SAVE SHARKO !

"Save Sharko !" is a serious game aiming at sensitizing the player to the pollution of oceans and at the Shark Control Program.

In this game, the player plays as a shark called Sharko, trying to reach the end of each level while avoiding danger along the way.

I worked on the Game Design and I made the game using Clickteam Fusion 2.5.

 
LEVEL DESIGN

BOSS FIGHT DESIGN : NIGHTBANE

Nightbane is a fire dragon leaving a fire trail behind him. The player must damage him by avoiding close combat and trying not to spread the fire. After a while, Nightbane flies away and the player must avoid fireballs and kill the Fire Spirits who will try to heal him.

I designed this boss fight on Unreal Engine from conceptualization to programming, including the implementation of animations and effects in order to train myself in AI design and programming.

The 3D assets are from World of Warcraft.

LEVEL BLOCKING

In this level, Ellen is trying to reach a hidden relic in an ancient temple before Doctor Allan can take it. This level blend some jump phases, explorations phases and infiltration.

 

This level is about 15 minutes long.

ABOUT ME

My name is Max Emsallem, I'm 23 and I graduated from Gamagora in Game/Level Design and from Emile Cohl in Art and Drawing.

I'm working on Noara, a turn-based tactical chess arena in which I'm a Game and Level Designer.
